The STORM FROM THE EAST cover is here and I’m absolutely in love with it! All of the elements intertwined in the border represent something key from this second installment of the Glass Alliance series—from the dog tags to the mountains to the si’yah cat. Our cover artist Marisa did a phenomenal job!

If you head over to Young Adult Book Central right now, they have a giveaway going on for a signed hardcover of book one, Dark of the West. It’s open to readers in the US and Canada.

In just a few months, I’ll have ARCs in my hands, as well, and then I’ll for sure be doing some giveaways on my Instagram account. You can follow along there so you don’t miss out! My handle is: @spitfirewriter.

Hope you all love this one! <3

Hi friends! If you’ve finished Dark of the West and you’re now wondering about Book 2 in the Glass Alliance series, you’re in luck. I have some exciting details to share. The official title is STORM FROM THE EAST and it will be released on February 11th, 2020.

Here’s a little summary of what you’re in for:

War has begun, and the days of Athan’s and Aurelia’s secret, summer romance feel a world away.

Led by Athan’s father, the revolutionary Safire have launched a secret assault upon the last royal kingdom in the South, hoping to depose the king and seize a powerful foothold on the continent. Athan proves a star pilot among their ranks, struggling to justify the violence his family has unleashed as he fights his way to the capital―where, unbeknownst to him, Aurelia has lived since the war’s onset. Determined to save the kingdom Athan has been ordered to destroy, she partners with a local journalist to inflame anti-Safire sentiment, all while learning this conflict might be far darker and more complex than she ever imagined.

When the two reunite at last, Athan longing to shake the nightmare of combat and Aurelia reeling from the discovery of a long-buried family truth come to light, they’ll find the shadow of war stretches well beyond the battlefield. Each of them longs to rekindle the love they once shared . . . but each has a secret they’re desperate to hide.

This book was honestly so compelling for me to work on, allowing ample space to explore the complicated debate surrounding the question of who gets to tell the “story” of war. What will be remembered? What will be ignored and forgotten? And what version is recorded as history? I can also promise there will be plenty more airplane duels, friendships, family dramas, and (yes, of course) more Love Letters. 🙂 Aurelia and Athan have so much to discover in Storm from the East — about themselves and the world around them — and I can’t wait to share their continuing journey with you!

Comments Off on Storm from the East — Coming 2/11/20

Back in January, I shared on my Instagram that I would sadly not be doing a traditional preorder campaign. I simply didn’t have it in my budget at the time. However, I did plan to hold a celebration giveaway after Dark of the West released, and I’m excited to finally share those details with you!

First of all, this giveaway is open to you if you’ve read Dark of the West and consider yourself a fan of Athan and Ali. You don’t have to have purchased the book or preordered it. If you borrowed it from the library or from a friend, that’s just fine!

Pictured here are all of the items which will be offered. I have quite a few bookmarks, signed bookplates, and postcards to give away, and I’ll draw names for those until I run out. (And yes, a good portion will be international!) As well, I have a limited number of charms to give away, so those will also be selected by draw.

Essentially, this giveaway is my way to say thank you to all of the readers who have made this past month so incredibly wonderful for me. It truly means the world to hear from readers who are invested in the journey of Aurelia and Athan, who are fully on board with my little book of war and romance, and who are tracking along with all of the secrets, plots, and political maneuvers. (Also, every time someone says the airplane scenes are their favourite, or they love Cyar, I think my heart grows about ten times bigger! :))

In case you’re wondering, the postcard is a combination of artwork from both Ali and Athan’s sketchbooks. Soon I will have more of their artwork featured here on my website and I can’t wait to share that too! The beautiful work was all done by my friend Louba, and you can see more of her wonderful creations on Etsy.

Click here to enter the Giveaway!

Closes on Friday, March 22nd.

As a Canadian living in the US, I’m super happy to share that there will be a Toronto-based launch celebration for Dark of the West next month! It’s being held on Saturday, February 16th at 3:00 pm. The wonderful Bakka Phoenix books will be hosting, and I’ll be joined by my dear Canadian pal (and internationally bestselling author/dragon tamer) Kristen Ciccarelli. Hope to see Canadian book lovers from the GTA there!
